CONTRA-ROTATING RC MOTORS HOW TO RCTWINS

This Video shows how to make giant scale contra-rotating motors for your rc aircraft. Rc planes can be very fast and are very unique with contra-rotating motors up front. We used a pair of Tomcat G160 motors and with a couple of modifications, made an inexpensive and reliable power plant for our Composite Spitfire. We love the rc hobby and want to share the knowledge we gain as we learn it to help others grow and have fun!. We used Ceramic bearings from Acer for the new prop adapter because the internal shaft is turning the opposite direction and the RPMs would exceed the rated limits on steel bearings. We used 6061 aluminum for both the adapter and prop nut. The prototype was made with right hand threads but the rear prop spins left handed and the prop nut would not stay tight, so we made a split nut with a pinch screw to keep it tight. In the video we recommend that you use left hand threads to avoid this issue. The nut coming loose caused a crash on take off as the motors locked up, we have the plane rebuilt and ready to go this summer! We used Mejzlik props on our unit but falcon is very good as well and are available in the states.
