On the eve of District Police Officers' Day, Russian Minister of Internal Affairs, General of the Russian Police Vladimir Kolokoltsev, awarded the winners of the 8th All-Russian Competition of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, "People's District Police Officer 2018." The head of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that officers of the district police officer service carry out extensive work in virtually all areas of internal affairs. Last year alone, they solved over 340,000 crimes and processed nearly 13 million citizen complaints. District police officers are primarily responsible for crime prevention. Currently, they supervise over a million individuals, each of whom requires an individualized approach. These measures have resulted in a decrease in the number of serious domestic crimes, as well as criminal offenses committed by previously convicted individuals. The Minister noted that, in order to reduce the high workload of the service, electronic passports for administrative districts have been introduced in all regions since April of this year. "However, no information technology can replace a sensitive and attentive attitude toward people and their problems. "These are precisely the qualities our finalists demonstrated," emphasized Vladimir Kolokoltsev. Following a vote in which over 400,000 people participated, Major Sergei Kuzyukov, Senior District Police Officer of the Sevsky Inter-Municipal Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Bryansk Region, was named the 2018 People's District Police Officer of the Year. He was awarded the rank of police lieutenant colonel and presented with a competition winner's badge, as well as a car provided by the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant. Second place went to Major Timur Nurbagandov, Senior District Police Officer of the Borovsky District Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Kaluga Region, and third place went to Senior Lieutenant Oksana Maryandysheva, Senior District Police Officer of Police Department No. 1 of the Arkhangelsk Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Arkhangelsk Region.
