What's new with Denmark Military's M60 Echo 6?
The M60 MG is nicknamed the “Pig” or the “hog” for its hefty size and infinite hunger for chewing through belts of ammo. If you ask me the US Army never should have dumped the M60 back in 1977. It fires the high powered 7.62 by 51 mm round. It’s gas-operated, air cooled, belt fed with a muzzle velocity of 853 meters per second. The new version is now three pounds lighter and 5 inches shorter. It has a much lower rate of fire down to 550 rounds per minute as opposed to old version which was 1,200. sometimes less is more! or at least that's what people say to me all the time. The trigger group was known to fall off, and the Gas system would unthread itself. It was notoriously awkward to change out barrels since it was attached to the bipod. This forced the operator to awkwardly dismount from a firing position to swap barrels. Come on M60 you’re better than that!
