Keeping Up Appearances | Garden Maintenance

Keeping Up Appearances | Garden Maintenance Hello everyone, I'm Andre Pleasant, and welcome back to Creative! In today's video, I'm taking you along for a day of garden maintenance as I work to keep the garden looking its best while preparing it for another season of growth and beauty. The video begins with a simple morning task—filling the bird feeder at the center table of the garden—and from there we explore one of the highlights of this spring: my beautiful pink roses. These remarkable roses surprised me by producing two spectacular flushes of blooms within just three weeks. Although I don't know their name, they hold a special place in my heart because a cutting from this rose became the very first rose I planted in this garden. I'll show you how I maintain the roses through deadheading and pruning. While this variety doesn't necessarily require deadheading, I do it to encourage healthy growth and future blooms. You'll see how I trim the container roses and cut back the larger roses growing in the garden beds after they've completed their flowering cycle. We'll also spend some time shaping one of the garden hedges before taking a trip to a local nursery, where I enjoy exploring the grounds and discovering a few beautiful topiary specimens that sparked inspiration for future garden projects. Back at home, I'll share the story behind the rabbit statues that are placed throughout the garden. To me, rabbits symbolize gentleness, peace, and harmony—qualities I hope visitors feel when they enter this space. The video concludes with one of the garden's stars: a magnificent hibiscus topiary covered in blooms, followed by a quiet moment at the meditation fountain, where the sounds of flowing water bring the day to a peaceful close. Thank you for joining me as I care for and nurture this garden. Gardening isn't only about planting—it's also about maintaining, shaping, and preserving the beauty we've worked so hard to create.
