Created by a man battling on stage his two university studies: Jazz Tenor Saxophon & Classical Tenor Voice. Experience the amalgamation and the genesis of something very new and beautiful and truly exceptional. The Tenor Battle band is incorporating instruments like the harmonium and cembalo, tenor sax & singing, double bass and drums. Håkon Kornstad had already enjoyed quite an extensive international career as a jazz saxophonist, with his groups and solo improvisation project being released on Bugge Wesseltofts Jazzland record label. Kornstad released multiple Norwegian Grammy nominated albums, is being reviewed several times by the New York Times, and praised by various international jazz magazines for his alternative saxophone techniques, and for his sound. Then he discovered that he had a voice. Two years later, Håkon has started gaining reputation as an operatic tenor in Norway. He was enrolled to the Norwegian Opera School for a master’s degree 2011-2013. Spring 2012 saw him starting to do concerts and include his singing with his solo saxophone show. Back in the days a Tenor Battle was when the hipest saxophonists in town competed in playing the fastest and loudest saxophone solo in clubs in the fifties.
