Determine the tension in AC, knowing that the resultant of the forces exerted at A by the three cables must be vertical. Problem walkthrough steps: -Draw a free body diagram Look at each applied component force separately Find or determine the x and y directional component forces for each starting component force Sum all the x directional component forces together. Then sum all the y directional component forces together -Use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the resultant force and vector value of the original starting component forces -Use the directions of the summation of X forces and the summation of Y forces to determine the directional arrow for the resultant force -With a right triangle formed, use the tangent (tan) inverse function to find the angle of the resultant off of the x-axis.
