Rise of the Resistance opening day MANIA!

Rise of the Resistance opened to the public on Friday, and Fresh Baked was there at 5 am to take part in the opening day mania! The morning was unexpectadly fun, and memory we’ll have forever. This is a chronicle of our Rise of the Resistance opening day. I arrived at the park at 5 am where I found our friends Katie and Spencer from Best Life and Beyond, Adam the Woo, and Justin Scarred. They had been there all morning, and were already loopy from the start. When I arrived, the lines at the gate had already reached nearly all the way to DCA. It was impressive, made even more so by all the positive energy in the crowd and lots of love for me and the camera! They opened the gates very early, at about 6 am, and we all then found our way to rope drop at the end of Main Street. We hung out here until about 6:30 am, where they then escorted us to entrance to Frontierland. And there we waited until 7:45 am. And that hour and fifteen minutes was filled with fellowship, good times, and a little bit of crazy. When you’re standing shoulder to shoulder with like minded fans for this amount of time, things can get a little wild. Justin got everyone going with Braveheart references, there were chants of Star Wars and competitive screaming with guests waiting at the Adventureland entrance. There was even a brief moment where we all rallied to try and protect the safety of some ducks walking through Frontierland. Once the rope dropped at 7:45 am, it was a semi mad dash to Galaxys Edge and the entrance to Rise of the Resistance where we all stood by for the final 5 minutes before 8 am. There was intense pressure for everyone I’m sure. Katie sure was feeling some, as she was put in charge of getting our group its boarding pass. The bell rung at 8 am and just a moment later it was all over. 3 minutes to “sell out.” There was a lot of screaming for joy. Many happy Star Wars fans who knew, by the end of the day, they were going to finally ride Rise of the Resistance. Four years after shovel hit the ground, the day had finally ride. As for me, I spent the rest of my morning sharing the time with other fans, and watching the first guests exit Rise of the Resistance. It was a moving day. An amazing morning. History really. Something I will never forget. It is my sincerest hope that all of you find some way to ride Rise of the Resistance very soon so that you too can know what it feels like. A remarkable achievement by Disney, and a dream come true for us fans.
