My beloved miniature dachshund, Rio, was 8 years old when he suddenly developed jaundice on December 28th. His eyes were yellow and his urine was more orange than usual. I called the hospital and they told me to bring him in immediately. The vet said, "Please hospitalize him immediately. This could be life-threatening." I was overcome by a tsunami of anxiety and a fear I had never felt before, the risk of losing Rio, and tears wouldn't stop. I vividly remember the day I went home alone, crying in full view of everyone. He had always been healthy up until then... I took his good health for granted... It was his first hospitalization and first surgery, and I didn't know what to expect. All I could do was pray every day, visit him every day out of concern, and keep an eye on him. Fortunately, he was able to be discharged two weeks later. Since then, monthly visits to the hospital, blood tests, and medications have continued for over a year, and I began to seriously consider what I could do for Rio. What I learned most of all was that "Being with Rio is never something to be taken for granted. It is a special, precious time, and sadly, it is limited." Since then, I have researched and learned various information, and have grown together with Rio since that day. The more you think about your beloved dog, the more worried and anxious you become, right? I want to share those worries with fellow dog lovers I can trust, learn, grow, and laugh together, and make the limited time we spend with our dogs more joyful, more comfortable, and more fulfilling!
