Transition School to Work: Dobyns-Bennett High School
What comes after high school? For most students, the answer is college, vocational training, or employment. For students with disabilities, the question often simply goes unanswered. Transition School to Work programs at Dobyns-Bennett High School and dozens of other schools across the state set the expectation for independence, empowerment, and employment. In this initial video, we meet some of the students in the TSW program, hear from the DB program coordinator, business managers, and the state program director. We hear how the program has changed expectations and opened the door for students to compete in the job market–with several taking paid positions even before graduation!
