When installing any type of chimney, it is important to comply with fire safety regulations. Using a clear example, I would like to demonstrate how to secure the area where the pipe passes through the ceiling and roof space. We use calcium silicate board as thermal insulation material. This board is classified as a non-combustible material. We take the slab and cut out elements that follow the polyurethane foam contour, and make the vertical posts long enough to cover the entire height of the ceiling and attic space. We'll then trim the top section to match the roof slope. Calcium silicate can withstand temperatures of approximately 1000 degrees Celsius. This material is more expensive, but it's unwise to skimp on safety. It's important to understand that any chimney is a potential fire hazard, as exhaust gas temperatures can be very high.
