CALIBURN RIX DARTS AND CALIBURN EZ EVO POINTS REVIEW
The Caliburn Rix R1 is a statement piece from one of the most interesting "new-school" brands in the game. While Caliburn has gained a reputation for wild, artistic designs, the Rix series—specifically the R1—is where they pivot toward pure, high-performance engineering. Here is a breakdown of how the Rix R1 performs at the oche. 1. The Barrel: Classic Profile, Modern Machining The R1 is a classic straight-barrel dart made from 90% tungsten. It’s the "purist’s" model in the Rix lineup. Grip Level: I’d rate it a 3.5 out of 5. It’s not a "cheese-grater" grip that will tear your skin, but the multi-ringed axial milling provides a very reliable, mechanical feel. Dimensions: At 23g, the barrel sits around 54mm in length and 6.4mm in width. It’s slim enough to stack three in the treble bed but long enough to accommodate various finger placements. Aesthetics: The contrast between the silver tungsten and the vibrant blue accents is stunning. It looks like a premium, high-tech piece of equipment. 2. The EZ-EVO Point System The biggest selling point of the Rix series is the EZ-EVO interchangeable point system. The "No-Lip" Advantage: Unlike traditional press-fit points or even some other screw-in systems, the EZ-EVO sits completely flush with the barrel. This is a game-changer for flight longevity—there is no "lip" for following darts to catch on, which drastically reduces deflections and shredded flights. Convenience: While it requires a specific Caliburn tool (included), swapping points takes seconds. However, be aware that you are entering a proprietary ecosystem; you’ll need to stick with Caliburn’s EZ-EVO points. 3. The Setup: SUP Integrated Flights The R1 comes out of the box with Caliburn SUP Flight-Tweenies. This is an integrated molded flight and shaft system (similar in concept to Cuesoul ROST or Condor Axe). Stability: They are incredibly rigid and ensure the flight stays at a perfect 90° angle. Durability: They can take a beating. Combined with the flush points, this setup is designed for players who group their darts tightly and don't want to replace gear every other leg.
