Fruit Cake/Black Cake (Eggless & Non-Alcoholic)

Happy holidays everyone! I got a lot of requests for a non-alcoholic and eggless fruit cake or black cake so I wanted to get it to you before Christmas. Hope you try it out! INGREDIENTS: For the fruit base- 3/4 cup of pitted prunes 3/4 cup raisins 1/2 cup of glazed or maraschino cherries 3/4 cup mixed peel/fruits *2 cups of grape juice *2 cups of malta 1 1/2 cup of malta + 1 1/2 cup of grape juice for soaking the cake. Cake batter- 1/2 cup butter (4 oz) 1/2 cup sugar 1 cup flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 cup of unsweetened applesauce or any type of fruit jam (or 2 eggs) *1 tablespoon mixed essence Lemon & orange zest 2 teaspoons cinnamon 2 teaspoons nutmeg Dash of Angostura Aromatic Bitters 1/8 teaspoon salt 1/4 cup of browning Bake at 250 F or 120 C for 2-3 hours (depending on the size of your cake).
