FAST TACK (eng sub) / ОВЕРШТАГ

Hey everyone! My name is Shamil Ageev.  Welcome to my windsurfing channel! 🤙 Today, we're diving deep into the key aspects of a fast tack! Including: The technique of bringing the board against the wind using carving. A swift change of sides utilizing centrifugal force. And the "slide grab" sail transition. In the previous video about the fast tack, I thoroughly explained the technique of pulling on the mast. Which is an important, key point and complements the topic of this video. I'll leave a link to the video in the description and in a card at the top of the screen. PREPARATION FOR THE TURN: Before unhooking, release your feet from the straps halfway. Move both hands closer to the mast (as shown in the video). Without opening the sail, unhook by slightly pulling the boom towards you. Step forward with your back foot so that your heels are on the same line but not too close together. Lower your body weight as low as possible over the side, opposite the universal joint. Keep your shoulders engaged and do not straighten your arms. CARVING THE BOARD: Pull your toes towards you, keeping a low center of gravity = the boom at eye level. Your body weight should hang on the mast and on the sail's power, not on your legs. Continue to carve the board until the sail crosses the stern line. As long as the board is moving, centrifugal force pushes you to the middle of the board. It prevents you from falling back and helps to jump to the other side during the transition. Without waiting for the board to stop, step towards the mast with your front foot. SLIDE GRAB:  This is the fastest and most precise way to grab the sail. Grab near the mast with your back hand, releasing the other hand. With a jerk, throw the sail towards yourself to meet it and transition with support on the mast. Catch the sail on the other side with both hands, quickly grabbing further from the mast. Your hands quickly perform a cohesive motion similar to sheathing a sword. Use the rotation of your hips and shoulders to swing around the sail. You need to pass as close to the mast as possible. TRANSITION: You should push off with your hands from the sail, not your feet from the board! Lean your weight on the mast (your legs are unburdened because they rely on your hands). Don't jump high, your body weight should flow, not fly over. Swing your feet over, keeping a low center of gravity, softly pivoting on your toes. Press down on the mast with your weight until the board flips to theacross the wind course. It's crucial to get a good feel for this move before it starts to come naturally.
