Dame Victoria Sharp has been sworn in as the new President of the Queen’s Bench Division of the High Court, succeeding Sir Brian Leveson who has retired. The appointment makes her the first woman to hold the post, which effectively makes her the judge in charge of the criminal justice system of England and Wales. There were also speeches from the Lord Chief Justice Lord Burnett, Dame Victoria, Attorney General Geoffrey Cox QC, Chairman of the Bar Richard Atkins QC and President of the Law Society Christina Blacklaws.
