"Working with Kids & Teens" with Hannah Scheuer, LICSW, PhD.
This clinical training provides an introductory foundation for mental health practitioners seeking to work effectively with children ages 5–13 in outpatient mental health settings in Washington State. Participants will be introduced to developmentally appropriate assessment strategies, core therapeutic modalities, and practical engagement techniques tailored to younger clients and their caregivers. The training will also address ethical and legal considerations relevant to Washington State based practice, including consent, confidentiality, and collaboration with caregivers and schools. Emphasis is placed on culturally responsive and anti-oppressive practice, with attention to how children’s identities shape their experiences of mental health, help-seeking, and therapeutic relationships.
