The piezometric height is explained as a measure of the energy at each node and its relationship to hydrostatic pressure. A practical example is provided modeling a simplified flow system between two reservoirs. It explains how the full opening of a valve and the elevations of tanks and pipes influence pressure, and how the positioning of nodes in the network can lead to negative pressure. It shows how the slope of the head line can be adjusted by partially closing the valve to reduce losses and thus convert negative pressures into positive pressures. It details how changes in the valve's head loss influence flow and pressure at different points, and it is concluded that with the valve fully closed, the maximum possible pressure is achieved at the nodes. Finally, it is used to model the network and demonstrates, through simulations, how valve regulation can mitigate negative pressures and how fully closing the valve affects the system.
