Why Study the Protoevangelium of James with Tom O'Loughlin

Professor Thomas O'Loughlin of the University of Nottingham explores the impact of a little known second-century Christian text. However, if it is little known, many of its ideas about Mary the Mother of Jesus, about the birth of Jesus, and about how the Holy Family lived are taken from this text. So it is both a source of Christian imagery and a source of conflict between Christians.
