30 Minute Tour - Homemade Boundless Horizons Teardrop Micro Camper - Question & Comments Answered
Full video tour showing all aspects of the Boundless Horizons Teardrop Micro Camper Project. If you have a build video please post a link to yours in the comments below. Enjoy!! All in one design has bedroom, lounge, dining, galley & porch spaces… My Aim With This Project... Was to create a comfortable lightweight camper with lots of space and practical innovation, that in use wasn’t some kind of endurance test. Inside, I wanted it to feel homely, with the idea of enjoying it in the garden. Then when away you’d feel like you had a tiny chunk of home with you. For décor I chose, spruce pine and bamboo for warm aesthetics, combined with brushed architectural aluminium for clean contrasting edges, all sustainable and highly recyclable... Comfort... At the top of the list. A premium IKEA bed system was used for the large queen sized bed. With a thick mattress, atop of 78 birch lattes for a super comfy bed and reclining sofa... Panoramic Dining... As well as a reclined sofa to relax on, folding tables provide comfortable dining, all while enjoying views of the surrounding landscape. Inside, natural organic surfaces blend with the natural world outside. In the evening ample touch lighting brings everything to life... Transforming Interior... At bedtime with no effort at all, the sofa pulls out for generous sleeping for two. The bed instantly reverts back to a sofa by simply pulling a cord. With plenty of spaces for stashing gear, so inside it stays uncluttered… Unique Hatchback Door... Opens as an overhead canopy giving shelter from the elements, making it easy to use the galley space to prepare meals and drinks. The canopy cover creates a porch space, so wet muddy gear can stay outside. Most of the time the canopy door stays open. It’s easy to close the door from inside, if the wind and rain picks up... Sliding Doors... Opened in the heat of the day give good airflow, or can be closed for a cosy space and keep the bugs at bay. Open or closed there are breathtaking views from inside. There are blackout blinds for the side windows and the sliding doors and the skylight… 50% Bigger In Use... The hatchback entrance/canopy and inner sliding doors are unique to the design. Inside or out it’s easy to access the galley. Making hot drinks in the morning, from the end of the bed is easy. With the door open, covered space goes from 8 feet to 12 feet (50% more)... No Setting Up Required... The practical design makes the camper perfect for camping, glamping, festivals, travelling & outdoor pursuits. Surprisingly, it can fit two bikes inside. An absolute joy to use, you can make the most of each day, not wasting time setting up and packing down wet tents and other gear. Unlike other campers there’s no need to erect additional tents or structures to make things work… With the door the nearest things I've seen is the Bruder EXP-6 which sells for $70K+! They have a back door that opens to provide shelter. This design was born out of years of using tarps instead of tents and always enjoying the extra space provided by the tarp, where, under cover you can remove wet gear & hang things to dry. The end result is simple and effective, a hatchback door that instantly becomes a large canopy with no setting up and easy to manage and close even when everything is soaking wet. The design works well in the northern hemisphere where rain is a given. The sliding doors work great, mostly I keep the canopy open and close the sliding doors at night when I sleep. The panoramic view invites the outside in, so you feel like you're outside, just like a tarp. Anyone doing a van conversion where the back door opens upwards(hatchback) could easily incorporate these ideas in to their conversion. Thanks for watching Like if you like, tell me what you think in the comments and if you know of something out there that I haven't seen let me know below, thanks.
