Beekeeping Tip: Adding a Robber Screen
When it's the time of a dearth (little or no nectar for the bees to collect), then bees rob other beehives. A way to prevent this is to install a robber screen. This tip shows you how to install a robber screen. The robber screen keeps the robber bees out of the hive entrance. Typically the bees go for the odor of their queen so they can enter the hive at any opening. The robbers are attracted to the smell of the honey and go for the front entrance where the smell is most apparent. So installing a robber screen protects the hive from intruding robbers.
