Renting an apartment in Edinburgh in 2023

I arrived to UK in September, and immediately started to look for a flat to rent. But in the beginning I could not even get a viewing! Why? The housing situation in Edinburgh is dramatic. More and more students coming every year to study here and there is not enough students accommodations to fit them.
