Differential Equations Crash Course: As Much As You Can Possibly Learn About in 50 Minutes

This tutorial video is a crash course in differential equations with an emphasis on population models. I talk about: 1) pure antiderivative problems (a free fall model), 2) first order linear autonomous equations (exponential population growth is the example), 3) first order nonlinear autonomous equations (logistic population growth and a model with harvesting), and show how to find solutions using separation of variables. Along the way, I emphasize what it means to be a solution symbolically and graphically by using slope fields. Mathematica is also used with DSolveValue and VectorPlot to make slope fields. This is for a Numerical Methods course (Numerical Analysis course) Lecture 24 at Bethel University, St. Paul, MN, Spring 2020. This is a calculus-based advanced undergraduate numerical analysis course. Differential Equations Crash Course: As Much As You Can Possibly Learn About in 50 Minutes, especially Population Models.
