MBRRE ‘Valley Mixed Steam Special’ on the Connecticut Valley Railroad!

On April 5, I and a few friends went to the Connecticut Valley Railroad in Essex to attend the ‘Valley Mixed Steam Special’ Photo Charter organized by the Massachusetts Bay Railroad Enthusiasts. The special charter train consisted of VALE SY Class ‘Mikado’ No. 3025, six of their vintage Bethlehem & Pullman passenger cars, and 3 vintage freight cars with a Pennsylvania Railroad Caboose. We boarded in Essex and reversed to the Bokum Road Crossing for our first photo stop. Next, we traversed up to the meadows in Centerbrook for two runbys where 3025 didn’t hesitate to show off its MD Whistles Boston & Maine 6 Chime. Then we moved up to Chester Depot for two freight only runbys before finally moving to the Dock Road Crossing for one last runby of the whole train.
