“Los Auroros” de Garbayuela: la peculiar tradición de los cánticos al amanecer | Puerta con puerta

In Garbayuela, about twenty men of different ages maintain an ancient tradition, going out to sing through the streets at dawn. They are "Los Auroros" (The Dawn Singers), belonging to a brotherhood in which two groups are distinguished: active members, who rise before dawn to sing traditional songs and pray the rosary during designated periods, and passive members, neighbors who pay dues to support the brotherhood and at whose doorsteps these Dawn Singers perform. They rise at 5:30 a.m. and walk through the entire town singing their more than 40 songs, accompanied by guitars, a bass drum, and their most distinctive element, the small bell. This festival, declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage Asset, is maintained in very few places, which is why these residents of Garbayuela are proud to continue witnessing such a unique tradition. ▶️ More content on the Canal Extremadura app and canalextremadura.es 📲 Canal Extremadura continues on social media: Facebook:   / canalextremadura   Instagram:   / cextremadura   Twitter:   / cextremadura   LinkedIn:   / canal-extremadura   Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/user/utfvver...
