Confident in his own team, Drysdale plans to rely on his Vice President, Mr. Crandell, who is a skilled marksman. However, Drysdale’s confidence is shattered when he learns that Crandell is hospitalized with several broken bones and won’t be able to compete. Desperate, Drysdale discovers Jed’s impressive sharpshooting abilities and hastily promotes him to bank vice president to represent the bank in the competition. Drysdale and Miss Jane take the Clampetts to the shooting range, where they explain the rules. To his delight, Drysdale realizes that the entire Clampett family, not just Jed, has extraordinary shooting skills. Hacker, suspicious of Drysdale’s sudden confidence, strikes up a conversation with Jed and soon uncovers Drysdale’s plan to use the Clampetts as ringers. Determined to level the playing field, Hacker insists on selecting a different “employee” from Drysdale’s team to compete. Spotting Granny cleaning Jed’s new office, Hacker assumes she is the cleaning lady and chooses her as Drysdale’s replacement shooter. Unbeknownst to Hacker, Granny is just as talented a marksman as Jed, ensuring the Clampetts’ competitive edge remains intact.
