Ziefen (CH - BL) Glocken der ref. Kirche St. Blasius

During excavations, parts of a church were uncovered, which was around 12 meters long and had a recessed apse. It dates back to around the 11th century. A church was first mentioned in 1302. In the 13th century, this church was given a tower, which still exists today. The west and north walls of the former church can still be seen in the existing church today. During a fire in the 14th century, the apse was replaced by a rectangular choir. From 1619-21, the nave was widened to the south. The tower was also raised in 1619. In 1936, the church was extended to the east. The first mention of the history of bells is the replacement of a small bell in 1486. Another bell was hung in 1515. The latter was replaced in 1569 by the one that still exists today. In 1701, the small bell was replaced by Hans Friedrich Weitenauer. Finally, in 1950, the smallest bell was recast and 2 larger bells were added.
