Tetsu Yung - Successfully raising bilingual and multilingual children - how much does it cost?

Raising bilingual or multilingual children is a marathon that needs to start early and lasts for many years. Along the way, there are a plethora of ideas for your kids to learn languages. The costs for some popular options in Japan and in Asia in general, such as private lessons, language schools, or online courses, are easy to assess, although the results are often less than optimal. But there are countless other unique and effective ideas out there, some for which the costs are hard to estimate and other information difficult to find. Here, I will discuss the costs and outcomes of a wide range of ideas that we have been applying for over 7 years to successfully raise our 3 kids to fluently speak 5 languages, namely, English, French, Japanese, Mandarin, and Spanish. Ideas vary widely in costs, including daily activities and hobbies, international schools, employing au pairs, and living in different countries.
