MASSIVE ALOE VERA Repotting - Much Needed!

Welcome! My giant Aloe Vera, standing 4' high x 4' wide, was pot-bound & badly in need of repotting. I live in Tucson, AZ & it required watering more frequently than I wanted. Time for a bigger pot & fresh mix! The plant weighs at least 80 lbs. & I could barely move it, let alone repot it. The time of year this was done: October 11. It was still very warm here but not scorching hot - a great time for repotting a large succulent.  I had 3 guys on the job & here's what happened: 1)  The large resin/plastic pot only had 1 drainage hole. 5 more were drilled into the bottom to ensure all the water freely flows out. 2) I watered the plant 5 days before repotting. 3)  I put some old cactus mix on the bottom of the pot with clay pebbles to add aeration. 4)  The soil mix consisted of potting soil, coco chips, clay pebbles, coco coir, worm compost & compost. It was mixed up in a wheelbarrow & shoveled into the pot. 5)  The Aloe was lifted out of the pot - it came out easier than I thought. 6)  The root ball was extremely tight, so they gently scored it so the roots could grow more easily into the new mix. 7)  Fresh mix was put into the bottom of the pot to raise the root ball up 1" above the rim of the pot.
