In this episode of PRISM Rounds, we break down a secondary analysis of the CLOVERS trial examining whether crystalloid choice interacts with resuscitation strategy in sepsis. The key finding: balanced crystalloids were associated with lower mortality in a liberal fluid strategy, while normal saline showed lower mortality estimates in a restrictive strategy. This challenges the idea that fluid choice is independent of how we resuscitate.
