150 km, 9,300 m elevation gain, 1,874 runners, 763 finishers, 1,111 finishers. The high number of finishers shows just how tough this race is. A perfect mix of leg-breaking climbs, mind-blowing descents, and technically equipped sections. The heat complicated everything; during the two nights of the race, I never felt the need to bundle up because of the cold; the temperatures were always too high. Completely satisfied with my performance, I finished in 36 hours and 47 minutes without any particular problems. I tried to listen to my body's needs, got plenty of sleep at the base of the race, and tried to maintain a manageable pace. This strategy allowed me to reach Chamonix without any particular pain, and most importantly, it didn't cause me any post-race DOMS (a real blessing given the very few days of recovery before the Tor des Glaciers 😅). It was my first finish under the arch in Chamonix, with the privilege of being accompanied to the finish line by the voice of the legendary Silvano Gadin. An indescribable feeling.
