Masasi Town Council Councilors and heads of divisions and units, led by the Council Chairman, Hon. Sospeter Nachunga, have conducted a training and experience exchange visit to Kibaha Municipal Council with the aim of learning various methods of managing development projects and collecting local revenue. Opening the experience exchange session held in Kibaha Municipality, the Mayor of the Municipality, Dr. Mawazo Nicas, invited councilors and experts from Masasi and other councils to continue visiting and learning in Kibaha Municipality to exchange experiences that stimulate development and improve service delivery to citizens. Dr. Nicas said that exchanging experiences between councils is an important way to build the capacity of leaders and executives in implementing development projects and strengthening local revenue collection for the benefit of the citizens. During the session, experts from Kibaha Municipality presented information on revenue collection systems, development project management and various strategies that enabled the council to increase revenue and invest in productive projects for the community. After the session, the delegation visited various projects implemented by Kibaha Municipality, including Mwalimu Nyerere English Language School, Kongowe Business Centers, Picha ya Ndege as well as Kibaha Shopping Mall investment stores. Speaking on behalf of the delegation after visiting various projects, Hon. Sospeter Nachunga commended Kibaha Municipality for its creativity and efficiency in implementing development projects using domestic revenue. He said the projects they visited have shown how the council can use its domestic resources to initiate strategic projects that increase revenue, provide better services to citizens and stimulate economic growth in the relevant area. “The achievements we have seen here in Kibaha are significant and provide an important lesson for other councils. These projects demonstrate the proper use of local revenues in bringing about tangible development and touching the lives of citizens,” said Hon. Nachunga. He further noted that the experience gained will help Masasi Town Council improve its development plans, increase revenue sources and strengthen project management with the aim of accelerating development and welfare of citizens. The visit has continued to demonstrate the importance of cooperation and exchange of experiences between local government authorities in the country in strengthening good governance, resource management and the implementation of productive development projects for citizens.
