Mick Jagger ready for Rolling Stones Slane Concert, Co. Meath, Ireland 1982
After seventeen years, the Rolling Stones are returning to Ireland to play Slane Castle and Mick Jagger is looking forward to putting on a show. The crew working at Slane Castle are putting the final preparations to the sixty foot soundstage, and at least 50,000 people are expected to attend the concert, making it biggest event of its kind to be held in Ireland. The concert is costing half a million pounds to stage and headliners the Rolling Stones will be supported by George Thorogood and the Destroyers, The Chieftains and The J Geils Band. The Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger is on site to carry out his own inspection of the grounds at Slane and is impressed with what he sees. "It looks really wonderful." So far on this tour the band have played stadiums, so Mick is looking forward to playing outdoors as it is more relaxing and prettier. We hope it’s still going to be warm, or not raining at least. Mick has a special affection for Ireland as he used to live in Kilcullen, County Kildare. Fans of the Rolling Stones can expect to have a great time at Slane. I think it’s going to be a good show.
