First airing in 2000, “Buzz Lightyear of Star Command” was a spin-off of the “Toy Story” films that followed Buzz and a team of new characters in their quest to keep the galaxy safe from the threat of evil. Throughout their adventures, they encounter everything from vampiric robots to the evil Emperor Zurg himself. The show was notable for expanding the universe of the character the Buzz Lightyear toy was based on. It was also another show brought to us by Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley, the same minds behind shows like “Kim Possible” and “The Penguins of Madagascar”. With the upcoming film “Lightyear'' looking to tell its own version of this backstory, the time seems right to look back at this overlooked classic.
