🟣 "The gods of the planet Venus in the Dresden Codex" by Erick Velásquez García. The fourth of a series of five talks by leading specialists about Art and Archaeology in Indigenous America. He has a degree in History, and a Master's and Doctoral degree in Art History from UNAM's Faculty of Philosophy and Letters. Since 1997 he has taught various courses related to epigraphy and history of Mayan art in different national and foreign institutions. Since 1999 he has worked as a researcher at UNAM's Institute of Aesthetic Research and he belongs to the National System of Researchers. His areas of interest are epigraphy, history, and art history of the ancient Maya. He is the author of several articles and chapters in books, as well as studies of the Dresden Codex (Editorial Raíces, 2016-17 and INAH, 2017) and the book Abode of Gods: The Soul Components of the Body among the Mayan Classics ( FCE-UNAM, forthcoming). He co-authored The Art of the Mayan Kings (Museo Amparo, 2018). He has received various awards and distinctions, including the 2013 National University Distinction Recognition for Young Academics in the area of ​​Humanities Research and the 2013 Research Award for young scientists in the Humanities awarded by the Mexican Academy of Sciences.
