Audie Murphy (1925-1971) was an American soldier, actor, and songwriter, who is considered one of the most decorated American soldiers of World War II. He received every combat award for valor available from the U.S. Army, including the Medal of Honor, the highest military award for bravery. After the war, he became a successful actor and appeared in over 40 films, including his own biographical movie "To Hell and Back." Despite his achievements, Murphy suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and advocated for increased awareness and treatment for veterans' mental health.
