From Policy to Practice: Advancing Indigenous Peoples’ Leadership in the Energy Transition

Held under the Civil Society Program, the event From Policy to Practice: Advancing Indigenous Peoples’ Leadership in the Energy Transition presented examples of Indigenous Peoples-led renewable energy systems across Asia-Pacific, demonstrating how community driven approaches can support energy access, environmental protection, and economic resilience. The seminar was held on the sidelines of the 59th Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The 2026 ADB Annual Meeting is being held from 3 to 6 May under the theme “Crossroads of Progress: Advancing the Region’s Connected Future.” The ADB Annual Meeting brings together policymakers, private sector leaders, development partners, and innovators to advance practical solutions in connectivity, digital innovation, and innovative finance—strengthening the region’s capacity for resilient and sustainable growth. Over the years, the event has become a leading forum for discussion of economic and social development issues in Asia and the Pacific.
