Its Uncle Ben Eller here, back with another Weekend Wankshop lesson! On episode 244, i'm going to be showing you all how to play one of my favorite Mikael Akerfeldt Opeth guitar solos: Windowpane, from Damnation! Its so wonderful and melodic, after i learned it for my cover video i put up a few weeks ago, i knew i had to share. This solo is full of tasty bends, vibrato, and phrasing, and it's actually not too hard to play. Perfect time to work on your intonation and touch while playing melodic lines. Really pay close attention to the timing of these licks over the 6/4 time signature you're soloing over, it can be surprisingly challenging! I have my capo on fret 2 as they do in the original song, but i doubt Mikael recorded the solo with the capo on there. But if you're playing the song, that's where it will be, so why not?
