After watching South Korean dramas, she decided to defect. She escaped alone at the age of 18, traveling through China, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand before arriving in South Korea. She accepted the faith through a missionary at a Korean church in Thailand and was reborn as a Christian. After settling in South Korea, she learned cosmetology skills and became a broadcaster actively participating in programs for North Korean defectors. However, rather than living as a broadcaster, she began to use her work to raise awareness of the reality of North Korea and engage in concrete activities for missionary work among North Korean defectors.
