Ceramic Filament LED Clock (HE056) - DIY Electronic Soldering Kit Assembly and Testing

In this video I assemble the HE056 Ceramic Filament LED Clock Kit. This clock kit was a gift, but these kits can be purchased from AliExpress. This DIY soldering kit is based on the STC8G1K08 microcontroller paired with the DS1302 timekeeping clock chip, and uses four 74HC595 shift registers to allow it to address all of the 30 ceramic LED filaments used to make up the four seven-segment digits and two clock separators. In the video I accidentally break one of the filaments when finishing the assembly of the clock. While my kit came with a total of six spare LED filament bars, I recommend installing the LED filaments after all other components to avoid the risk of breaking a filament. However, it is worth noting that the upper-left filament of the left-most digit is never illuminated in normal operation, so it would be possible to install a broken LED filament in that location without adversely affecting the regular operation. -- Please note: links to AliExpress may be affiliate links.
