About the Song: “Guests from Far Away” is a song very close to my heart. It is one of the melodies that filled my childhood in Amdo, Tibet — a song my uncle would sing while herding animals on the mountains. In those quiet moments of rest, his voice would rise gently across the grasslands, filling the vast space with simple, beautiful notes. In our culture, this song is sung to welcome those who travel from afar — guests, friends, or pilgrims — offering them milk tea, warmth, and the white khatak scarf of blessing. It carries the pure spirit of Tibetan hospitality: opening our hearts and homes to those who arrive from distant lands. Performing this song was like calling across time — connecting my mountain homeland with my home here in Estonia.
