Cervical Dystonia or "Spasmodic Torticollis" is a neurological condition characterized by involuntary, often painful, muscle contraction of the neck muscles. According to research from the Mayo Clinic, cervical dystonia can cause: The neck to twist or tilt to the side; The head to tilt forward or backward; The shoulder to rise toward the ear; The neck to move away from the midline of the body. Up to 75% of people have neck and shoulder pain. Headaches are also common, as is hand tremors (dystonia-associated tremor). Patients may also develop symptoms of depression and anxiety.
