The first decade of the Animal Welfare Act - has it worked? - Part one

2016 Discussion Forum Part one: Setting the scene Speaker: Mike Radford, Aberdeen University Ten years after its anniversary, we dive into what has changed as a result of the Animal Welfare Act of 2006. The Act advanced animal welfare legislation and helped prevent suffering through preventive action. But what were the views of those who were there to enforce it? We compare how it was meant to work with how it was actually working for those who interacted with the Act on a daily basis. Questions to consider whilst watching: 1. What would you expect to be covered by an animal welfare act? 2. Who has the powers or responsibility for animal welfare? 3. Why does society need animal welfare legislation? 4. How is the Animal Welfare Act relevant to you? 5. How could the Act be improved? 6. How could outcomes be improved? 7. What is the role for education versus prosecution? Don’t forget to download our reflective learning guide which will help you get the most out of our sessions: https://www.animalwelfarefoundation.o...
