The most striking feature of this festival is the massive scale of the floats, which reach heights of over 20 meters. Seeing these giant structures tower over the local buildings is a truly majestic sight, offering a surreal and breathtaking beauty that feels almost otherworldly. その起源は、 他の津軽地方のお祭りと同様に、 18世紀の「ねぷたながし」あるいは「ねむりながし」というお祭りにあるという伝承が伝わっています。 （諸説あります） 明治期にはすでに20メートルを超える大きさのねぷたが運行されていたという記録があります。 近代化による電話線・電線の敷設の影響で、ねぷたは小型化する運命になりましたが、 平成8年に「立佞武多復元の会」による、復元作業がおこなわれ、 さらに、その後の運行コース内の電線の地中化によって、 正式に「五所川原立佞武多」として復活しました。 The History and Revival Like many other festivals in the Tsugaru region, its origins are rooted in the 18th-century traditions of "Neputa Nagashi" or "Nemuri Nagashi" (though several theories exist). Historical records indicate that floats exceeding 20 meters were already being paraded as early as the Meiji era. However, as modernization progressed, the installation of telephone and power lines eventually forced the floats to become much smaller. For a long time, the giant floats were a thing of the past, but in 1996, a group called the "Tachineputa Restoration Society" began the arduous task of bringing them back to life.
