We recently visited The Hanok Heritage in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province, together with Philippe Brovelli and his wife Christine who are longtime friends of Didier for over 30 years. Philippe has lived in Tahiti for more than 35 years and spent decades as a hotelier, serving as the General Manager of The Brando, the private luxury resort inspired by Marlon Brando’s philosophy of respecting nature and preserving the environment. He recently visited Korea for the Virtuoso Symposium, which was held in Korea for the first time ever in Northeast Asia, and it was wonderful to reunite after such a long time. Our time at The Hanok Heritage was a special reminder of the beauty of Korean nature, hanok architecture, and Korean cuisine. In particular, the 10-course Korean fine dining experience at MONTO left a lasting impression by reinterpreting seasonal ingredients from Yeongwol with a modern touch. Did you also know that the recently acclaimed film The King’s Warden, which surpassed 16 million viewers, is set in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province? Some scenes were reportedly filmed near The Hanok Heritage, and for the Yeongwol Danjong Cultural Festival, a special “Danjong Table” inspired by the film was also created.
