Brown Trout Fly fishing on the River Aln, Northumberland

Fly fishing for wild brown trout in the Lake District is great, but I occasionally go outside the area. This was a visit to Northumberland in July 2022 where I managed to get an afternoon on the River Aln. A very hot day with not many fish rising but a broken wear below the railway viaduct produced 4 brown trout on a dry fly. Day tickets are £10.00 from the Hardy shop in the middle of Alnwick and the shop staff can advise on access to the river, parking and good places to fish.
