南雁戸山 爺の再挑戦編 刺激的なジジイの余生 Mt.South Gando The Exciting Remaining Life of an Old Man 2026/3 hodohodo 65

Four days after the "Stormy and Turbulent" episode, I'm attempting to climb Mt. Minami-Ganto again in winter. Last time I underestimated it, but this time I have a secret plan. The Tenkura forecast showed temperatures hinting at radiative cooling. On the morning of March 2nd, the temperature in the lowlands was lower than in the mountains. Therefore, hodohodo's plan is a "quick attack on hard-packed snow," aiming to be on Mt. Minami-Ganto by 10 AM. Even if the temperature warms up during the day, it's all downhill from there, so once we're up there, it's smooth sailing. Last time, we had a rare easterly wind, and it was wet and cold, causing a strange phenomenon where ice stuck to everything, which made things very difficult. However, this time it was the dry, cold wind that had crossed the Asahi Mountain Range, the original conditions of North Zao, and the wet snow was frozen solid. (It was scary because if you fell you would slide all the way down.) So, this time, with the weather and snow and ice on my side, my physical condition was perfect, and I had finished reading the final installment of the Naruse series, "Naruse Runs Through the Capital," and returned it to the Sagae Library. With no regrets, this will be my third attempt at Minami-Ganto-yama.
