Zimbabwe election delay draws criticism
Criticism is mounting following the enactment of Zimbabwe's Constitutional Amendment Act number 6 of 2026, which effectively postpones the country's next elections from 2028 to 2030. Opposition parties, civil society organisations and international observers are concerned, who argue that this weakens democratic governance and undermines citizens' constitutional right to regularly elect leaders. The opposition has strongly condemned the new law, vowing to challenge its legality in the Constitutional Court. For more news, visit sabcnews.com and #SABCNews on all Social Media platforms.
