"The Grand Duke" or "Ranking the Dialogue scenes in the Gilbert and Sullivan Operas"

So, since the beginning of time people have been telling me that 'the music in The Grand Duke is really good, but the text needs work', and I'm starting to think that is very unfair. While there are maybe two lines in the whole thing I'd cut, do we only have that attitude because we are told it's bad? Why exactly do people think this dialogue is so bad, when it's actually stronger, I would argue, than most of the other operas in terms of comedy, poetry, character and emotional stakes? I answer all of these questions in this very special video!
