As well as working on the new songs, The Kubricks spent 2016 performing to huge festival crowds, and have in the past supported UB40, Bad Manners, The Skints and The Toasters amongst others. Over the last four years, the band has played to tens of thousands with slots at the likes of Wickerman Festival, Godiva, Brentwood Festival, Brownstock, and The London International Ska Festival, to support their debut release, ‘Wasters & Wannabes’. Produced by Andrew Tulloch (The Charlatans, Madness) and released independently on Skallywag Records, 'Wasters & Wannabes' gained traction in 2014 with support from BBC Radio 2 and BBC 6Music. Huey Morgan (Fun Loving Criminals) featured the band's single, 'Self-Help Wannabe’ before Tom Robinson chose new track 'Rave With the Rebel' (July 2015) for his show, leading Horace Panter (The Specials) to champion the band, claiming, "I can hear Madness, The Ruts, Squeeze and The Clash in there…" With 'The Heist', The Kubricks have evolved their traditional 2 Tone Ska sound, adding new elements of percussion, samples and programming across 12 new compositions.
