Learn more➡️:    / @artempankovich   I'm working on a MERCEDES-BENZ CL-Class C216 with an M273 V8 gasoline engine. This engine is considered one of the most problematic Mercedes engines. This unit is primarily known for its timing chain issues, specifically increased wear on the intermediate gear. To resolve this issue, the timing chain and its components often have to be replaced at mileage levels under 100,000 km. In fact, I'm working on a car today that came in for just such a repair. The owner of the CL-Class C216 requested a timing chain replacement, citing that another service center had already performed diagnostics and determined the cause of the problem, but was unwilling or unable to perform the timing chain replacement procedure. Before starting the repair, I decided to perform a troubleshooting myself to be absolutely certain that the M273 engine's malfunction was indeed rooted in the timing chain drive. The scanner showed errors that could be interpreted as the consequences of a timing chain stretch—inability to adjust the intake camshaft position on the right cylinder head and misfires in cylinder number four. I checked the timing chain marks, and, most interestingly, they were in their installation positions, indicating that the chain was functioning properly. Therefore, I had to find the real fault that was causing the M273 engine's erratic operation.
