Does Wuthering Heights change as you get older, or do we?

How does Wuthering Heights change as we grow older, or is it us who change? In this video, I take a fresh look at Emily Brontë’s classic novel, exploring how our perception of the characters and their world shifts with age and experience. From teenage readings filled with romantic notions of Heathcliff and Catherine to adult perspectives that notice cruelty, obsession, and moral complexity, Wuthering Heights is a book that challenges us every time we return to it. I share my own reflections on how adaptations, films, and cultural shorthand shape the way we first meet these characters, and why rereading the novel as an adult can feel entirely different. We examine Heathcliff’s brooding and often violent behaviour, Catherine’s choices and their consequences, and how the secondary characters like Nelly and Edgar reveal the moral and emotional complexity Brontë built into her story. If you love Wuthering Heights, are curious about its darker truths, or want to see how reading the book changes over time, this video is for you. Join me as we slow down, revisit the text, and think about what Emily Brontë was really showing us about passion, cruelty, and human relationships. Upon relocating to Yorkshire with my husband, I found myself irresistibly drawn to the village of Haworth, home of the Brontë Sisters and my obsession grew. It was during the challenging days of the Lockdown in 2020 that I decided to channel my passion into action. Disappointed by the lack of quality Brontë-themed goodies available, I embarked on a mission to create my own and my online shop was born. Since then, I've immersed myself in the world of literature, attending Book Festivals and events across the UK. Inspired by my adventures and encouraged by the enthusiastic response from fellow Brontë enthusiasts on social media, I decided to share my experiences through YouTube videos.
